About Vickie Belt

Kodak boxes were the building blocks of her early photographic education! She has fond memories of photography from the age of liquid emulsion formulas and processes leading to film and then groundbreaking advances into the digital medium. She went from the wet darkroom environment and printing under a red light to sending files across a network to make archival Giclee' inkjet prints. She was an early adopter of the Kodak digital cameras and was among the first in Dallas to work as a consultant leading major corporations and defense contractors in utilizing the new technology. One of the greatest challenges in the early 1990's was compatibility issues when working in a cross platform environment. She is proficient in both Mac and PC platforms.

Vickie has been in the photographic industry for over 20 years and served as the digital imaging specialist at Warehouse Photographic located in Carrollton, Texas. She pioneered the organization's transition from working with traditional photographic film to incorporating digital imaging services into the workflow. As an early adopter of this technology, she developed training programs, in the Dallas area, aimed at a educational, corporate and defense contractor client base to facilitate the conversion to digital cameras and the use of Adobe Photoshop. She is familiar with digital capture; scanning, photography and output ;printing and web applications.

Vickie served on the DACOM board for developing the multi-media curriculum at Collin County Community College and on the Advisory Board at Eastfield Community College.

Seeing a demand, due to increasing consumer interest in digital photography, for flexible and extensive digital camera training, in the Dallas area, she created a Digital Learning Center. This center,"Digitaldooda," embraces an unpretentious, down to earh approach in teaching that is friendly, informal and most of all, fun!.

Working with all age levels, in the summer of 2006 she developed and implemented a Youth Digital Camera Training Program at Southern Methodist University's Legacy Campus, utilizing digital cameras, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Elements.

She offers a variety of workshops in photography and Photoshop aimed at the professional and hobbyist market. Arlington Camera provided their clients with a summer series of 6 workshops in 2008. Brookhaven books her every year for their staff development program.

Photo Safaris are currently underway. She will be leading two Adventure trips. Ft Myers Beach and the surrounding area in Florida is the spring destination for photographing birds and sea life. In October, when the leaves are changing, she knows where to find a colony of Albino squirrels in Illinois.
